This week’s Filthy Friday is focusing on three fast rising bass music stars in the making. EH!DE, I.Y.F.F.E. and Crankdat have been blowing up the dubstep game of late with tons of new originals and stellar remixes as well.
First we examine the new EH!DE original track titled “Low Battery!”, every millennial’s worst nightmare. After hitting 80 thousand followers on Soundcloud, EH!DE gave this one away as a freebie! The new track features intense growling synths throughout paired with a whimsical melody, giving the song a classic dubstep feel, reminiscent of dubstep from the 2010-2013 era. Though I haven’t really seen EH!DE on any festival lineups this summer, it’s just a matter of time before he’s touring around the country. This young star in the making has released music through Never Say Die, Firepower and Buygore, so it’s only up from here.
Once again I.Y.F.F.E. has managed to amaze me with a completely new sound for him. Over the last 12 months, Pedro Alexander, stage name I.Y.F.F.E, has continuously changed up his style to keep all his new music sounding fresh and vibrant. His new original track “Storm ft. Desiree Dawson” is no different. This airy future bass summer anthem will have you bobbing and swaying without control.
And last but definitely not least, Crankdat’s new “Re-crank” of Joyryde’s original track “The Box”. This has got to be the best sounding song I’ve heard in weeks. In fact I can’t remember the last time I heard a song that took me by such surprise. The insanely heavy bassline of the first drop will give you whiplash as your ears explode with grimy dubstep goodness. Crankdat also managed to tastefully fit a sample of the Excision classic “Bounce” into the intro. See if you can hear it! After the first drop Crankdat quickly gears up for an even heavier and more diverse second drop, which he leads into with a sample from the Brad Pitt movie “Seven”. “WHATS IN THE FUCKING BOX? CRANK IT!”. And whomp whomp whomp we go!
