C ristoph’s “foregone conclusion e.p. 2”, a collection of remixes by an assortment of unique artists, elevates the level of energy and variety relative to that of much of Cristoph’s past work. He initially gained traction with past tracks like “Shelter” and “Dance in Tongues”, which were solid and groovy tech house material but ultimately quite vanilla.
“Moments” is heavy and dramatic, but stands out for its buildup into an acid-laden, unexpected peak. It may not necessarily mesh with the tone of the rest of the track, but at the very least does serve to spice things up.
Far more techno-influenced than Cristoph’s original productions, Kiko’s remix of “Foregone Conclusions” isn’t the most inspired or unique track per se but still manages to keep a bass-ridden groove until the somewhat predictable crescendo.
“Time for Change” is modern, Adam Beyer-like techno at its finest; devoid of anything outside of the box but still a worthy plug in as a transition in any set. It executes well on the gradual layering of sounds and energy that has come to characterize much of the techno deviating increasingly from its roots.
