Troyboi, a South London native, is easily one of bass music’s most talented and promising up and coming artists today. Over the last year and half he has been pouring out one stellar track after another, emerging as the king of the subgenre called London trap that he has pretty much single handedly kept alive. His extremely unique sound has gotten him a lot of attention, having done huge collaborations with the likes of Flosstradamus and Diplo. His sound is so unique and truly all over the place that he has actually began branding his songs with “#My Style” on Soundcloud where most artists display the genre of the song.
Just a few days ago Troyboi released yet another sizzling heater, and I’ve got it right here for your listening pleasure. The track is actually by Little Mix but produced by Troyboi. Little Mix is a group of four British female vocalists who got their start after winning The X Factor (UK) back in 2011. An interesting side note is that they were actually the first group to win the competition. But I digress.
This brand new track is titled “Lightning”, and the lyrics explain it all. The delightfully delicate vocals of Little Mix tell a story of a heart broken woman who, despite “running like the light from the dark”, cannot find a way to fall out of love with her electrifying significant other. The track starts off with the sounds of a rainy thunderstorm brewing in the distance, which also fits nicely into the theme the title portrays. The drop features the same glossy sounding baseline that many of Troyboi’s songs exhibit, coupled with some tantalizing high hats. Its honestly such an incredible song that there isn’t really any way of describing it that does it justice to just how good it sounds. So take a listen or two or five hundred, and enjoy!
