The King is back! Finally, after months and months of anticipating and impatience on the part of his enormous fandom, Skrillex has finally released the dubstep monster remix he’s been teasing at his live shows for what feels like forever. Skrillex first dropped his huge remix of GTA’s track “Red Lips” at Lollapalooza Chile back in mid March. Here he displayed an original version of his take on the track, which has since been changed up a few times to get to the final creation that he just released this morning. (I have added a Soundcloud link to the original version at the bottom of this article so you to compare them)
The original version of the track seemed to have a lot more of a classic dub influence to it, being a bit slower in tempo and having a deeper more growling lead synth. As time went by, Skrillex continued to change and alter his masterpiece until finally it came to the conclusion of a song that it is at today. The song, which features the smooth vocals of Sam Bruno, begins with the sound of a dark and powerful thunderstorm brewing in the distance. Soon thereafter, the track begins with a harmonious chord progression that gets twisted and distorted until the buildup begins, and the listener is quickly thrown into a hailstorm of screeching sounds and blasting base lines.
The future for Skrillex and Skrillex fans looks very promising. The man is sitting on at least a dozen brand new unreleased tracks that he and his collaborators have been teasing in their live performances for months. Some notable collaborations that we’re waiting to drop include tracks with What So Not, Wiwek, and Must Die!, just to name a few. Skrillex has been hinting at the release of his fourth full album for some time now, and it would be reasonable to expect it sometime within the next couple months.
