This week we bring you three fresh new tracks that are perfect for those club nights that stretch long into the night. With new music from Jimmy Edgar, Gorgon City, and a Fedde Le Grand remix of Faithless we hope you’ll find something to keep the party going all night long.
Ultramajic label boss, Jimmy Edgar is a modern day techno maverick. His latest EP, Shine, is a testament to his nuanced yet high-impact approach with tracks like “Let Me Tell You” and “Tik Tok” coming through as real dancefloor gems. The pounding kick of the lead track is nicely cut by the high “Let Me Tell You” vocal sample with subtle changes in the tempo giving the track its peak moments. Incredibly polished and well crafted, Jimmy Edgar is a force to be reckoned with.
UK Garage Duo Gorgon City are still touring their massive debut album, Sirens, but took some time out to post a tech-y dub of their track “Saving My Life.” The ‘Warehouse Dub’ is a echoey hard-hitting rework of their popish take on garage, getting back to the duo’s roots in straight-to-the-club music. The rave-y melody that electrifies the track weaves its way through frequencies bristling its back along the way. A great secret weapon to have in your library, you can cop this one for free from Gorgon City if you sign up for their mailing list.
And to wrap things up this week we have a remix of a rave classic. UK Rave legendary act Faithless has surfaced again with a reworking of their classic anthem “Insomnia” with Avicii. And while we may not be interested in Avicii here at the Electronic Current, Fedde Le Grand’s new tech house remix of the classic does pique our interest. With a warm pulsating bassline, Fedde keeps the iconic chiming melody and refrain while giving “Insomnia” the well needed club mix for the 2010’s its deserved.
