Who is this new Mad Decent artist you ask? He’s your best nightmare! I’ve been quickly falling in love with NGHMRE ever since his remix of Skrillex’s “Only Getting Younger” was released about a year ago. Since then, this up and coming trap mastermind has remixed artists such as Lookas, Just a Gent, and even the Prodigy as well as releasing a joint four track EP with Slander titled “Nuclear Bombs”. Tyler Marenyi first began producing music in 2009 while in college in North Carolina. His DJ alias NGHTMRE came about from his friends who would refer to him by his nickname “TMare”. After graduating college he moved to LA to focus on his music more and attended Icon Collective. Since then NGHTMRE has been working on perfecting his incredibly unique take on trap music, and has been very successful in doing so thus far. His new original “Street” that was just released through Mad Decent Records has been getting played out by tons of huge name artists all around the world including Skrillex, Hardwell, and Flosstradamus. It first surfaced in Skrillex’s Ultra Miami set back in March, and since then the hype and anticipation for the track has been boiling over. Well the wait is finally over! This track is already being called the best trap song of 2015 and for good reason. The song features a menacing lyric sample, “Back with that hard street”, which is followed by a ear blasting baseline that sounds like dripping water falling down a melodic scale. The energy and power of the first drop is somehow doubled in the second drop when NGHTMRE chops up the vocals and melody to create an even heavier sound. This track will throw NGHTMRE into trap stardom and proves that this is only the beginning for him.
Delta Heavy is back again with another incredible drum and base instant classic. The British DJ duo has been cranking out quality base heavy music for years now, and their fan base has come to expect a high level of intensity in their productions. With the recent release of their track “Ghost” (featured in my post from last week) getting a lot of praise, the group decided to keep the ball rolling downhill and release a second track from the EP “Ghost”. The second track is titled “Tremors” and is equally if not more explosive than “Ghost”. Again Delta Heavy was able to successfully channel one of their biggest sources of inspiration, being Nero, and put together a high octane, heart pounding drum and base anthem that will certainly be getting played this summer at a festival near you! The new EP is being released today and also features both a Zomboy and an Infuze remix of “Ghost”.
Alpha Noize is one of dubstep’s lesser known goldmines of constant, quality filth and in the last 48 hours he has dropped two absolutely incredible ear shattering tracks. Hailing from Finland, Allan Nyman aka Alpha Noize is an up and coming dubstep heavy weight in the making. His style of music is rather unique but is comparable to the likes of Au5, Must Die! and Eptic. Two days ago he released his remix of Protohype and 501’s original track “Won’t Change ft. Raz”. The drop of this song really reminded me of an equal parts mixture of Zomboy’s “Terror Squad” and Skrillex’s “Ragga Bomb”, which combine into one spine tingling base masterpiece. The second track was released just yesterday, and it’s another remix. This time he remixed Sex Whales’ original track “Peace of Mind” into what sounds like a flurry of sharp, piercing synths that jab at you like icicles. These two tracks just prove that Alpha Noize is on top of his game right now and surely will not be going unnoticed in the near future.
