Trap star NGHTMRE just released his highly anticipated single, “Street” via Mad Decent, and you can expect to hear it in every trap set you attend this summer. The buildup made me a bit nervous that this track would just be pulled out of the festival-trap hole that I felt NGHTMRE had fallen into, but miraculously the drop comes heavy and packed with unique sounds and insane, hyped-up mixing. The rare trap banger approved by TEC. Very rare, very rare.
HUGE Mr. Carmack remix came out this week- “bs, sanctified.” Carmack keeps it soulful and light for the first minute, till an brief buildup drops it heavy and oh yes it’s that Carmack we’ve all been missing. Carmack also mixes Big Sean’s verse and somehow makes him sound less annoying- is there anything he can’t do?? Overall a very fun and more accessible Carmack remix.
This is a few months old, but I bet you haven’t heard it. If you’ve been following these weekly posts, you know I like to feature innovative, unique, and experimental tracks. And “Condor” by Belgian up-and-comer No Tv No Radio is all of the above. It has such an excellent build, peppering the flute melody with unique percussion. The drop is glitchy, but not offensively. It’s actually got quite a nice rhythm to it and busier production as the track progresses. Really reminiscent of Cashmere Cat in a good way. Keep an eye on this guy.
Cavalier brings his unique, playful style to this “Midnight” remix, which really only brings a real trap beat halfway through the song. The whole thing is a fun journey, so enjoy the melodic synth and vocal mixing and unexpected drops.
