CloZee is a female producer based out of Toulouse, France and just released one of the BEST tracks I’ve heard so far this summer. “Koto” has strong oriental vibes, featuring a three-stringed guitar (known as a shamisen in Japan or sanxian in China) over a fun trap beat. The emphasis is on the melody as more instruments like flutes, vocals, and horns accentuate the shamisen. A buildup halfway through the track finally brings the bass-y synth work that makes this one of the best mixed tracks I’ve heard in a long time. Keep an eye on CloZee. Absolute fire.
A very different vibe, but equally as fun- Dallas Cotton and josh pan bring the future funk with “ain’t nobody like you.” Great sample work, blaring brass and and soulful sax make this a track you’ll want to play all summer long.
HPA Beats aka Heaphone Activist releases another slow burner with “Ocean Floors,” and I mean that in the best way possible. This one goes heavy on the melodic bass work and pitched vocals, creating a very ethereal atmosphere. His progression is steady and strong, as usually; the track evolves as it goes on, some of the chillest synths don’t even appear till halfway into the track. Vibe out.
Another very relaxing track, this time from New Zealand native, Koji. “So gone” focusses on laid-back guitar, pitched vocals, percussion, and a smooth beat. This one’s for the summer nights you’ll never forget but have trouble remembering.
