Nowadays, if someone asked you to create the ultimate poolside playlist, most people would fill it with repetitive tropical house tracks and remixes, but once upon a time, the sounds of summer were all deep house tracks. In true fashion of pushing the genre, I’m here to show you just how cheery, bright, and airy Deep House can be so you can create the ultimate summer playlist. Throughout the rest of the season I’ll continue to post sun-filled Deep House tracks, so keep your eye open every Sunday!
Up first is Martin Waslewski with “Beautyhell” off his EP titled the same thing. Laid-back, warm, and melodic, this track is perfect to start off your summer pool party – relaxed enough to nurse your hangover from the night before, but groovy enough to get things started. As you may know, I’m very hard to please when it comes to Deep House vocals, but I can’t imagine this track without them. I’ll be blasting this song with the windows down on my jeep for probably the rest of the summer!
Up next is Ben Pearce’s remix of Tender Games’ “Lost”. Bringing a little bit of retro dance vibes, the remix is sure to get you up and dancing. The bright synths keep this track perfect for summer breeze and pina coladas cruising on a boat (or sitting in your house pretending you’re doing so). Again, it’s still light enough to start up your playlist with, but definitely has enough energy to keep the party going.
Lastly we have Claptone’s remix of Gregory Porter’s “Liquid Spirit”. By far the heaviest of this week’s selections, this track is for when everyone’s nice and warmed up, the mimosa’s are flowing, and everyone’s ready to get down. I’m loving all of Claptone’s new work, and this track is one of my personal favorites. It features Claptone’s throwback vibes, gets a little disco-y and is wildly fun – with the perfect light touch of dark.
Enjoy this beautiful day,
