You really don’t hear many trap bangers these days- not quality ones, at least. Thank Based God for LA producer XVII. “Anax” is a track banger I can fully support. From the dark opening and well crafted build, complete with brass and strings, to the god damn lion’s roar at the climax, I was hooked from the beginning. The drop is hype enough, but what I love most is that XVII doesn’t use the same one twice, throwing in extra heavy brass and synth work to keep things fresh the second time around.
I’m sure you’ve been hearing plenty of sub-par remixes of Rhianna’s BBHMM, and if you’re like me, you still like the original better. Until now. And guess what the trick was? Replace Rhianna with Alo Lee! She does an incredible, much more dynamic cover of Rhianna’s lyrics, but we must also give credit to French producer FAB who absolutely kills this beat. The progressions is enthralling, from chill vibes to an unexpected drop halfway through which brings just the right amount of bass and interesting percussion.
Young Ottawa up-and-comer dojo released a HOT future-bass remix of “Honest.” The diverse synths are flowing and uplifting with a fun trap beat to go with the the verses, which take on a much more light and fun tone with dojo’s beat. Very enjoyable track.
I know nothing about doujinshi except that “ice wing angel” is one of the chillest trap tracks I’ve heard in a while. A paced, melancholy melody plays over a measured trap beat. He/she throws in iconic trap tags like “Trapaholics Mixtapes,” “Damn Son,” and occasional gun sounds which contrast the beat in a strangely beautiful way. Keep an eye on doujinshi.
