Perhaps one of the greatest problems with the Music Industry is that, at the end of the day, it is all about the money. If you don’t know what I am talking about, then just take a look at the ticket prices that Ultra charged in 2014 and 2015. Thankfully, all hope is not lost, as there are still some people in the industry who are using the power of dance music to spread a positive message. One of those people is Dane Kunkel.
Founder and CEO, Dane created BeachGlow in 2011, as a way to raise funding and promote awareness for various domestic and international charities. in 2014, BeachGlow generated over $40,000 in profits from their festival, and the best part? They donated all of the money to the Red Cross. The fact that BeachGlow is able to use dance music as a means to fund charities is something that I believe every major production company should take into consideration (ID&T & Insomniac, I am looking at you).
For 2015, BeachGlow has ramped up their production and is boasting an even bigger stage, with a newly appointed location in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Additionally, they have now added an 18+ age requirement, so expect a more mature audience. This year, the profits from the festival will go towards the Little Rock Kids Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing music programs and instruments to under-privileged schools.
