Alexander Lewis’ “Day 3- Ex’s” starts off with some smooth piano chords that give way to interesting synths over a heavy, manipulated beat. But 1 minute in, the song really kicks off with another build that leads to a much heavier, brass filled drop. It’s a bit heavy to vibe to, but the pace is too measured to raging. It’s undoubtedly an interesting listen, so do with it what you will.
Another interesting track is Kid Indigo’s remix of “IDEK,” on which he lays a heavy, distorted beat under some roaring 20’s sax riffs. The first drop comes out of nowhere and it comes hard. But at 1 minute, the song breaks down into a very chill, melodic synth moment before going right back in again.
KRNE has been on fire this year, releasing track after track and collaborating with other great up and coming artists. On “Never Stop,” after a smooth intro, KRNE shows off his percussive ability with some great beat progressions over uplifting synth chords. A fun, chill listen.
Speaking of KRNE collabs, here’s one from MIKOS DA GAWD featuring KRNE and Mr. Carmack himself. “4/20’s comin up” starts off as a very subdued track with pitched vocals and unique synth repetitions that plays and plays over a very chill beat. After the break at 1:30, however, an unexpected build leads to a heavier beat and new bell-type sounds on top.
