Not sure if it’s because I’m missing festival season, stressed out, or just plain angsty, but the past few weeks my dnb (let alone my overall music taste) has been plagued with some of these dark tunes, and have been literally all i’ve been listening to for this past week…
Soulculture’s track “Judgement” was released as an EP with a few other tracks with this same vibe, and this is the T.H.D. remix of it. For dnb it’s pretty downtempo, but it’s really heavy on the bass lines.
This track will leave you disturbed or in love. “UDo Not Want 2 Go There” by Psycho Mantis is just really messed up. It starts off with the audio of some girl talking about starving like an Ethiopian, then continues on the refer to corpse fucking and how “you do not want to go there,” but for the life of me I don’t get the reference, and can’t find where it’s from anywhere. But aside from that, this track goes through a few different vibes. Some parts have jungle feels, and others a really dark and dreamy without any real classification.
Although this is a minimix, it is spot on. Loadstar’s minimix for RAM Records couldn’t have been any better. All the tracks featured are upbeat dnb bangers, and all are heavy on the bass. This 37 track gem is a free DL as well.
This is probably my one of my favorites of the bunch. Sam Binga‘s mix for his Antipodean tour is sick. It’s straight up jungle, and when i say jungle, I mean like classic, real, STRAIGHT UP jungle. Which is cool to see. The best parts are the flows that the rappers have got throughout in the tracks that he used. Definitely morning commute material.
Hopefully these dark, underground tracks/mixes have hit the spot. A lot of times the weirdest shit can be the best.
